Harris Teeter Trip, 7-18-2011

So, I woke up bored this morning and thought it might be a good day to go do some shopping! :-)

My main goal for going to Harris Teeter was to actually check to see if my eVIC coupons were now working. I did a little research last night and thought I might have found the answer to why they haven't been working and the only way to test it is to go see.

When I got there I decided to take advantage of a few deals that were ending today. So, here's what I ended up with today:

I know it's hard to see but that is 12 cake mixes in the back of the picture. I know, that seems like overkill but when you are buying them for about $.30 each then it is time to stock up somewhat. I also only paid $.50 each for the Aussie and Herbal Essence items. Other parts of this deal are $.25 Crest toothpaste (that is what I used to test my Zavers and they are working fine now!) and I only paid $1.40 for the Eckrich sausage. Doritos were BOGO and the Kashi was only $1.50 with coupon, better than the normal $4.99 price!

Anyways, this would have been around $54 with the sales and such but I ended up paying $13 for it all! Not bad when you figure that $4.29 of that was the Doritos!

Sorry, no breakdown but if you have any questions you can feel free to give me a holler!

Have a wonderful day,

Ken

A Slow Sunday, For A Change

Usually on Sunday I look forward to posting my finds at the local stores. It's always exciting to save money. Today, I chose to relax rather than run around to get deals.

Don't get me wrong, I still did some shopping. I just didn't do anything that I wanted to take a snapshot of and post on my blog. I bought two 6-packs of Dove Men+Care Soap from Walgreens for free. I got 6 boxes of brownies and 6 regular sized M&M candies from Harris Teeter and only paid $2.24 for them and then I got twelve 10-packs of pens and 4 rolls of Scotch tape for free at Target. I still saved some money I just didn't go crazy at it today!

I also took the time to order a few coupons from a service I have come to enjoy ordering from. I ordered 20 coupons for $.55/1 Eckrich Sausage. and 20 coupnos for $.75 off Cottonelle for just $2 and should get them by Tuesday or Wednesday. We can always use some more Eckrich sausage!

Anyways, it's been nice just relaxing some today. I've even taken the time to finish adding a couple of shelves to our bathroom storage so that I could store everything a little better. I can now see that I have quite a bit of stuff and can slow down some if I so desire! It's still hard to refuse FREE, so I will still do a little couponing here and there! :-)

Hope you are all having a great day!

Ken

CVS, Spur Of The Moment Deal, 7-16-11!

First off, what is the ulitmate way to end a date night? That's right, stop by the store and do some couponing! :-)

Seriously, Trina and I had a date night tonight and it was really nice to get away by ourselves for a bit. After a nice meal and a good conversation, we were ready to head home. Trina asked if there was anywhere I wanted to go and I said lets swing by CVS. My main goal was to just scan my card and see what kind of deals I could get from the kiosk.

So, we get there and I scan it and get a $10 off $50 coupon. We walked around for a moment and I told Trina that I thought I could work up a deal and use that $10 off $50 coupon. She just shrugged her shoulders and said "Here we go!" :-)

My first thought in making this work was to check out the Lumene products. I've been wanting to do this deal (buy $20 and get a $5 ECB) but wasn't sure what to buy, since I am not the one using it! I asked Trina about a couple of products and she thought that the wipes and the eye-makeup removing wash would be a good deal for the girls. I tried to figure a deal that would be as close as possible to the $20 needed to get my $5 ECB and then proceeded to go to the next step.

My next step was to do the $15 Garnier Fructis deal. I would get a $5 ECB when I purchased $15 of Garnier Fructis. They were on sale 3 for $10 so that meant I would have to buy 5 products. Once again I turned to Trina to pick out what they would use. I had 3 coupons for $1 off shampoo and 2 coupons for $1 off a styling product.

After the first two deals, I had about $38 or $39 toward my $50. I thought I would get the contact lens solution they had for $7.99 and get back a $7.99 ECB but they were out. Where could I find another deal? Then I noticed that they had already marked the Pantene products for the sale tomorrow. I could get 4 for $13.94 and use my 2 coupons for $3 off, making it a total of $6.94 and get back $2 in ECB.

This put me well over my $50 limit. Just for good measure Trina found a "WELCOME" mat by the checkout that was clearanced for $0.49. So, we proceeded to check out and see what I could do.

The order was rang up and the total was $56.95. I had reached my goal! I handed him the $10 off coupon from the kiosk and then handed him my other coupons (6 for $4 off Lumene, 5 for $1 off Garnier Fructis and 2 for $3/2 Pantene) I was only given credit for $2.88 on my 6th Lumene coupon as that was the total of that product. So, after coupons, my total was down to $13.07. I then handed him my $10 ECB I had earned earlier this week from a John Frieda deal.

My grand total was $3.07. He then put little money stickers on my ECBs ($5, $5 and $2) and gave me a free candy bar as well as pointing out that I could call the 1-800 number for a chance to win $1,000 cash!

So, needless to say, I was able to work out one of my most awesome deals in a while without any planning whatsoever. I just decided to do it!

What's even better is that my actual cost for all the items was $0.10! I had to pay $2.97 in taxes!

I'm still smiling about this one! :-)

Getting Back Into Savings! :-)

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I have posted. It seems like the last 2 weeks have been such a whirlwind of activity, mostly stuff you wish you didn't have to do! Unfortunately, while I enjoy my couponing, life goes on and we must deal with it!

So, I will post things a little backwards this week. I'll post Sunday's savings later. Today, I will post what I saved this morning. I went to Rite-Aid, Target and Food Lion for these savings. It just goes to show that you can save money without having double-coupons, for those who use that as an excuse! :-)

Here's a pic:

Click on the picture for a larger image!

For those who might be doing a double take, yes those are pillows included in my picture! I even had a coupon for that! :-)

So, how much do you think I paid for all this? Here's a list of what all I have here:

Target:
2 Room Essentials Pillows
2 Up & Up Pantiliners (yep, I bought those also!)

Food Lion:

6 Marcal Small Steps Paper Towels

Rite-Aid:

1 Gallon of Milk
2 Airwick Odor Scent Starter Kits
1 Noxzema 6 ct. Razors

The total before coupons was $33.68.

My total after coupons? That would be $4.18. That's a savings of 87.5%. Not bad for not having any double coupons! Just to give you an idea of how that happened here's a breakdown of it all.
